This is a very early HAWKBILL PRUNER pattern knife. The knife measures 4 3/8 inches in the closed position. This knife was made by the EMPIRE KNIFE CO of Winsted Connecticut. The stamping is very early and dates the knife back to the late 1800's. The blade has wear and opens a little past straight. The blade has half stop and has strong snap opening and closing. The bone handles are dark,rich peach seed bone. The handles have no noticable cracks and no patches. The knife has steel bolsters,liners and a steel butt cap.This is a nice very old early Connecticut made knife. A knife of history
