Offering our Nuestra Señora de Atocha Shipwreck Coin Grade 1. The ship went down September 6, 1622, as it struck a reef. The discovery was made July 20 1985 by the Mel Fisher crew. Graded by Treasures Salvors, Inc., 8 Reale, original C.O.A. included mounted on foam core. Coin No. 85-A114747 comes sealed as shown. The coin is fully documented as shown. I see a bit of gold on the coin, perhaps from a gold coin was struck before this silver coin. Don't know. We have had many of these coins over the years, this is authentic. Grade one is in high demand and value of these coins rise every year. This coin has the more rare backwards P for Potosi mint and T means assayer Juand Ximenez de Tapia, who was know to have stamped some coins in reverse. (see the documentary on the Atocha).
